‘Real Housewives’ husband Russell Armstrong commits suicide

Damian Grass – Celebrity News Service Reporter

Los Angeles, CA, United States (Celebrity News Service) – “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Russell Armstrong has died of an apparent suicide.

Armstrong, whose struggling relationship with wife Taylor Armstrong was aired throughout the Bravo show’s first season, was found dead Monday night in his bedroom in his home in Los Angeles, after he apparently hanged himself, reports TMZ.

Police officials say they responded to Armstrong’s home on Mulholland Drive after they received an emergency call from a roommate who found Armstrong’s body.

No suicide note was found on the scene.

TMZ reported that some of the cast of “Real Housewives” were being told of his death, including Kyle Richards and Lisa Vanderpump, who were said to be “speechless” and “distraught” over the news.

Their difficult marriage continued to make headlines way after the show’s first season ended.

Taylor Armstrong, who shared 5-year-old daughter Kennedy with her husband, filed for divorce in July and had revealed to People magazine that her six-year marriage was full of physical and verbal abuse.

“I felt like I was dying inside,” she said, adding that the finalization of filing for divorce has brought her “some sense of peace.”

Russell Armstrong later went on the defense.

“Did I push her? Yes, maybe things happened in the heat of the moment, but it was during a time in our lives that was not characteristic of who we were,” he said. “This show has literally pushed us to the limit.”

The new season of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” is scheduled to premiere on Sept. 15.

Katy Perry teams up with Missy Elliott for “Last Friday Night” remix

Anthony Jones – Celebrity News Service Reporter

Los Angeles, CA, United States (Celebrity News Service) – Katy Perry’s “Friday Night” party has no signs of stopping any time soon. She’s just enlisted Missy Elliott for a remix to the hit track.

Billboard confirms that the new remix to “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” with Elliott is set to hit radio, the Internet, and digital retailers on Monday.

The single sets Missy up for a big-time comeback, as the song is poised to take the #1 position on the Billboard Hot 100. Missy is getting ready to release her first album since 2005′s “The Cookbook.”

It’s Missy’s first appearance on a major single since the remix to last year’s “Everything to Me” with Monica, which hit #1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

If Katy Perry moves up to #1 on the Hot 100, where LMFAO and their “Party Rock Anthem” has kept her from inching up to the top spot for weeks, she’ll match the record broken for Michael Jackson as the only artist to achieve five #1 singles on the Hot 100 from a single album.

While Jackson become the only artist, male or female, to achieve the feat back in 1988 with his “Bad” album, Katy Perry’s hits have come off her “Teenage Dream” album, which has yielded #1′s from the title track–first single “California Gurls” with Snoop Dogg, “E.T.” with Kanye West, and “Firework.”

Anthony Jones – Celebrity News Service Reporter

Los Angeles, CA, United States (Celebrity News Service) – Though the country is in the middle of a heatwave, Grammy-winning singer Michael Buble is prepping a holiday special for NBC and in the studio recording his first full-length Christmas album this year, which he’s calling his best work yet.

Buble’s as-yet-untitled holiday effort is set to hit stores later this year and is set to feature Buble covering classics like Elvis Presley’s Blue Christmas and Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

“For those of you who know me, you’ll know that Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I think my mom and dad gave us lots of love at Christmas and that’s kind of what I wanted to give back to people,” Michael Buble said during a UStream.

He also recorded duets with Shania Twain, performing the traditional “White Christmas,” and the Puppini Sisters on “Jingle Bells.” He’s also co-penned an original song for the album as well.

“I know it sounds weird but I think you guys can expect the best album I’ve made so far,” Buble added during his message to fans. “I wanted to make the quintessential Christmas record. I wanted to make a record that would outlive me.”

NBC also announced that he’ll star in his first network television variety special this December, where he’ll appear in comedy sketches and perform cuts off his new album.

“Michael Buble’s popularity as a recording artist and performer transcends generations as he has entertained audiences across the world during his concert tours,” said NBC chairman Robert Greenblatt.

Selena Gomez performs Britney Spears tribute on new tour

Anthony Jones – Celebrity News Service Reporter

Los Angeles, CA, United States (Celebrity News Service) – Selena Gomez promised fans a tribute to one of her idols, Britney Spears, on her latest tour in support of new album “When the Sun Goes Down.” That she delivered on her first tour stop, performing a medley of no less than six Spears hits.

Gomez filled her early setlists with covers of Taylor Swift and Backstreet Boys and told CNS last year that she’d been contemplating performing a Britney tribute, which we encouraged. She even told MTV of her more concrete plans before the tour.

“We are working on a few cover songs. We are working on a Britney tribute, which I’m so stoked about, ’cause I love Britney. I was like, ‘I have to do it.’ I wanna do a mash-up of all her songs and just go for it,” Gomez said.

She went for it, performing Britney catalog classics like “..Baby One More Time,” “(You Drive Me) Crazy),” “Oops!..I Did It Again,” “I’m a Slave 4 U,” and “Toxic,” mixed similarly to the Chris Cox Megamix released around her “Greatest Hits: My Prerogative” era.

She then closed things out with a thumping cover of Spears’ latest #1, “Hold It Against Me.” Gomez had initally promised that she wasn’t even to try and re-create any of Spears’ well-known choreography.

“I’m not going to even touch Britney!” Gomez initially told MTV. “She’s so good. I wouldn’t want to butcher it. I’m just going to pay tribute to her! I’m gonna say she’s awesome.”

But that wasn’t the case. Gomez snaked out some moves a la Brit in “Slave 4 U” and even bust out the chair from her early hit “Crazy” for a routine.

Selena followed up the Britney medley by performing a track Spears penned for Gomez’s latest album, “When the Sun Goes Down,” titled “Whiplash.”

Gomez’s tour, which kicked off only days ago in Costa Mesa, continues on through September 12th when she performs at Puyallup’s Northwest Concert Center.

Schwarzenegger drops spousal support request

Michael J Morsella – Celebrity News Service Contributor

Los Angeles, CA, United States (Celebrity News Service) – Arnold Schwarzenegger is now amending the divorce papers in which he asked to terminate the court’s jurisdiction to award spousal support to Maria Shriver.

The new legal papers, which were filed on Monday, removed the request, with the box on the form requesting the termination now being unchecked.

“He would have checked the box to give the court the right to end his spousal support obligation should Shriver at some point have enough money to support herself,” attorney Scott Weston, who is not involved with the case, told People about the change.

“It’s a matter of reserving that right for the future,” he added.

Weston also mentioned how the original move by Schwarzenegger is a standard practice.

Weston believed that Schwarzenegger made the change because of the heat he was taking for the request.
