Plucky Marketer Lilly Allen still plugging away

Well, here we have some more news about Lilly Allen keeping on the public eye. First, complaint about the competition

But hey no hard feelings, besides Kate Moss saved me from bullies that’s what we call star power

Interest waning, do not despair we have more news, here is a nice little tidbit from gaysocialites.com
Lilly is definitely savvy in keeping in the media, lets hope her clothes sell well.

By the way, here is Lilly complaining about celebrity led culture (in this article she criticizes Victoria Beckham) She says “People of my generation have become skeptical about it. We’ve had it shoved in our faces, and because of all these reality TV shows. We’ve seen how it all works behind the scenes. Rather than think, ‘She must be cool because she is in a magazine, we don’t buy into it.” is funny considering that she is selling her own celebrity fashion line.

American Fans pay double for Kate Moss Fashions!

News keep coming, and we were hoping to move on. There is this news bit from DailyIndia.com. Barney’s costumers were angry at the high price tag for the clothes, with some items reportedly as high as a $100 (so much for affordable fashion)

Topshop Spokeswoman said that the prices reflect the transportation cost from the UK, (however, the garments are made in India, China and Mauritius, there may be some kinks in their supply chain management)

Despite the increase in price the spokesperson said that the garments were still an “amazingly” good value for Barneys.

Our bet is that US costumers are more apt to pay with credit card than shoppers across the pond. Also, the demand in the US clearly supported the price point. Almost all of the 11,000 items ordered were sold.

And the reviews

It seems that Money Week, knows exactly what women should be spending their money on, (i.e. Happiness doesn’t come from hotpants)

The Style Dash team has a collective sigh of disappointment, unfortunately Kate did not design clothes for us mere mortals

Into Gossip bring us: how will Kate Moss designs look on real women, very revealing pictures, funny how the line looks big on Moss.

Does Top Shop CEO Phillip Green hate women? That’s the question that DollyMix asks, hint, it seems so(more…)

Kate Moss Street Cred!

Vogue Magazine published an article about Kate Moss’ American Launch of her clothing line. The article is pretty much a description of the party and her famous friends, including Moss infamous transparent dress (which is on sale for $470, including the belt). However, there was a quotation from Barneys’ Cult Creative Director, Simon Doonan that caught my attention:

“It’s very simple – celebs try to do fashion but it doesn’t mean much, whereas Kate has fashion cred in bucketfuls. Basically I’m in heaven – as a Brit I understand the majesty of TopShop. It’s edgy and it’s democratic.”

What is interesting about this collection is that unlike Madonna, Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwen Stefani and other celebrities who are known as singers or actresses; Moss, has an established reputation as model and direct exposure to the industry (she was discovered at the age of 14). Making her more of a fashion authority than other celebrity designers. (more…)

Kate Moss Clothing Line only for Skinny, Perfect Girls, says Lily Allen

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Outspoken British Rocker Lily Allen, who is releasing her own fashion line, has told Gracia Magazine “Kate’s clothes are just for skinny, perfect girls. I won’t be buying any.”

“I couldn’t get into those tiny hotpants if I tried, and if I did I’d look ridiculous. The hard thing is to get everybody of every size to look fantastic. That’s the real deal. Fashion should be a laugh and be for everybody. My dresses will suit anyone, whether they’re tall or small, or fat or thin.”

For fashion conscious shoppers, describing your clothing as good for the “common man” rather “woman” might not be the best way to sell your products. Clearly Kate will do a better job selling the idea of Fashion and Glamour at affordable prices than Lilly.

But given that Lily’s market is the “quirky independent girl” she may be reaching her market after all, she elaborates “The best thing about dresses is the fact they hide a lot of things you don’t want exposed and flatter the good bits. My bum and legs are revolting, which is why I wear dresses all the time. And I put in wider straps to hide the arm bits we all hate. (more…)

As you probably guessed by now, Kate Moss new fashion line is getting plenty of attention from the media.

The supermodel’s line has been getting great reviews from critics, and other industry insiders.

Fashion expert Maria Ioannou, who attended the NY release party said: “We have always been fascinated by the seemingly effortless British sense of style.

“And when it comes to Kate Moss, what’s not to love about a woman who seems to party all night and come out the other end looking fabulous?”

This is the great allure of the line. Kate Moss is a gorgeous woman who personifies the Rock and Roll lifestyle (particularly with the engagement to rocker Pete Doherty), and manages to look perfect at the end of the day.

Karl Lagerfeld was a target for kidnapping

Karl Lagerfeld, originally uploaded by Howie_Berlin.

German Designer Karl Lagerfeld, known for his fashion trademark of structural and dramatic women’s wear, was once a kidnapping target of the RAF (Red Army Faction) a radical left wing group in Germany.

“The comments from Peter-Juergen Boock, who has served 17 years in jail for his role in the RAF, are the latest in a string of revelations which have caused a storm in Germany. Some of his comments have sparked calls for a re-examination of the 1977 murder of a federal prosecutor.
Boock told Der Spiegel magazine the RAF had a list of possible targets for ransom in the late 1970s when it was trying to raise funds to help the group’s leaders escape from jail.
