We have been covering Kate Moss new fashion launch with particular interest, not only for the line itself, but also for the business strategy behind it. So I think it’s fitting to do a small piece on Sir Philip Green.

Mr. Green successfully runs Topshop, England’s affordable high street retailer, and is the owner of the Arcadia Group and Bhs (British Home Stores), Arcadia is the parent company of Topshop.

Green, Britain’s 4th richest man, started in business as a small time trader. He later bought a failing retail operation and successfully turned it around selling it for a profit. He became the CEO of a public men’s wear company called “Ambers Day” that after declining profit, was forced to resign. Mr. Green ran other retail operations including Debenhams and Allders, JJB Sports, and led the acquisition of Sears Retail Chain (different than Sears, Roebuck and Company) (more…)

Ever hear the term ‘sexy’ advertising? It’s not necessarily what you think. Sure, some people’s idea of sexy advertising is hot babes in bikinis spraying beer all over each other, but that’s overtly sexual and not what we’re about to discuss here.

Do you engage sexy advertising in your marketing campaign? If not, you should.

“Sexy” advertising refers to ads that are highly targeted, yet artfully subtle – and therefore, extremely attractive to the key consumer.

I’m going to try and curb my use of the word ‘sexy’ now because I think it’s quite blatant, and therefore not sexy at all. So from now on we’ll try and call them ads that are “attractive.”

What makes an ad (or a person) attractive? People perceive the world through their senses- sight, sound, smell, taste, touch. So if you can appeal to them in any of these five ways, then you may very well become attractive to them.

Let’s talk about the word sensual. Not sexual, but sensual. What’s that mean?

The company did not elaborate on the reasons for the split. However, the New York post quoted a source “Her demands were outrageous. She got a new lawyer who was unrealistic,” claims the source ” Victoria’s Secret doesn’t care. They have five new hotter, younger girls debuting next year. And they won’t have to deal with any craziness.”

News sources state that contract negotiations broke after the label refused to raise her $5 million annual salary.

By Tiffany Plater

It was first reported back in May of 2006 that Payless bought a shoe and accessories brand named American Eagle. This acquisition aimed at targeting a younger crowd that Payless had not been able to reach. And it was then that the confusion began. American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) is accusing Payless of using their brand image and likeness to advertise for a new line shoes from American Eagle, the shoe brand.

Unfortunately, this misunderstanding could really hurt AEO’s image. Payless isn’t exactly viewed as a high-end source for retail shoes. (more…)
