Michael J Morsella – Celebrity News Service Contributor

Los Angeles, CA, United States (Celebrity News Service) – British fashion designer John Galliano took the stand in a Parisian courtroom on Wednesday.

The former head designer for the house of Christian Dior is on trial for anti-Semitic rants that he made earlier this year.

Galliano told the court that he does not remember anything from the exhaustive 45 mimute rant.

He also added that he is a recovering addict and is in denial.

Later on Galliano’s “I Love Hitler” video was played and Galliano took the stand a second time.

In an explanation of the video, Galliano told the court that “The man in the video is not the real John Galliano.”

He also added that “He has no memory of the events and only read about them in the press.”

The prosecution is saying that Galliano could not apologize for something that he never did, even though it is him in the video.

John Galliano to stand trial for public insults in June

Anne Lu – Celebrity News Service Contributor

Paris, France (AHN Entertainment) – Disgraced Dior designer John Galliano is set to stand trial for verbally insulting people with racist and anti-Semitic outbursts on June 22. A Paris court said the criminal trial will last a day.

Galliano, who led Christian Dior label’s designs from 1996 until his dismissal in March, is accused of making anti-Semitic and racist remarks against three people on two separate occasions, the first occurring in October 2010 and the latest in February.

A video of a drunk Galliano proclaiming his love for Adolf Hitler surfaced online.

He faces up to six months in jail and a 22,500 euro (US$31,000) fine, the maximum punishment for race, religion or ethnicity-based insults, if he is found guilty.

Meanwhile, there’s another legal drama for the fallen fashion bigwig. Galliano is also being sued by his former lawyer for defamation and slander.

He fired and accused lawyer Stephane Zerbib of embezzling around $4.3 million from his account. Zerbib countersued with two charges, saying Galliano smeared him with the allegations.

John Galliano fired from eponymous label

Anne Lu – Celebrity News Service Contributor

Paris, France (AHN Entertainment) – After being sacked from French haute couture label Christian Dior, shamed designer John Galliano has been let go from his eponymous label. The British fashion designer, who worked as the fashion house’s head designer from 1996 until his dismissal last month, was also sacked from the John Galliano label, which is 91 percent owned by Dior.

He was dismissed from Christian Dior last month after a video surfaced online of him drunkenly hurling anti-Semitic rants at people, and declaring “I love Hitler.” He was also arrested in a separate incident over an alleged anti-Semitic tirade in a Paris bar.

Now, the board of the John Galliano label has reportedly decided to fire him as well.

His replacement hasn’t been mentioned, but according to WWD, via Huffington Post, “It is understood that the in-house design team at John Galliano, which shares members with Dior’s, will be charged with producing collections at a house prized for bias-cut dresses, newspaper prints and retro-tinged tailoring.”

“A pre-spring collection is already said to be in the works.”

Galliano has just finished an “intensive” one-month stint at an Arizona rehab, and is in “after care.”

After Its Shares Fall, H&M’s Outlook For 2011 Optimistic

Stephanie Sims – AHN Entertainment Reporter

New York, NY, United States (AHN) – Europe’s second-largest clothing retailer, H&M, had its shares fall the most in almost two years in Stockholm trading after third-quarter profitability missed analysts’ estimates. The world’s third-largest fashion retailer by sales had its gross margins fall 1.1 percentage points to 60.5% in the quarter, compared with forecasts that they would grow 0.4 percentage point.

The shares dropped as much as 7.5 percent, the steepest decline since Dec. 5, 2008, according to the Wall Street Journal.

H&M blamed the decrease on increased spending of fabric quality and garment detailing and its decision to reduce some prices in an attempt to increase market share.

Since cutting prices again, forecasts of a one-percentage-point decline in gross margins in 2011 now look optimistic. Until the fourth quarter, H&M’s margins benefited from low raw-material prices and spare capacity at factories in Asia.

Perhaps H&M is also trying to gain more interest by using Anja Rubik as its model again. After starring in the retailer’s September catalogue, Rubik is featured in several fall H&M ads. Rubik, who has been featured on the covers of various magazines, including French, Korean, Japanese, Spanish, and

German Vogue, Nylon and Elle, and has modeled for such designers/brands as Givenchy, Chloé, Christian Dior, Hermès, Valentino, Gucci, , HVersace, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Chanel and Balenciaga, might be able to bring a high-fashion look to the less expensive retailer’s clothing ads.
